| Continuing the process of moving non-business related material
from our genealogy and local history "dot com" site over here to our "dot org"
site, here are two items that continue to get attention, despite the fact that
they are definitely old now. We don't know if people keep looking them up out of morbid
curiosity or whether they still have some redeeming social value. However,
if the internet is really supposed to be where all knowledge goes to reside forever and
ever, who are we to stand in the way of that laudable purpose?
With that for a preamble, here they are:
In case you want to see (in PDF form) a presentation we gave way back in 1998 to the
United State
Pony Clubs' national meeting about a topic that was fresh and new then, here is
How
to create a website for your individual Pony Club. Hard to believe just
how long ago that really was! Some of this presentation is REALLY
dated now, but we do think there is some remaining value in the slides about what to avoid
putting on a website. Take a look and see if you agree. This may
actually be a candidate for the history page!
Perhaps you would like to see (in PDF form) a document
about how to be a Horse
Management Judge that we wrote even before that website presentation,
back when we
were the first-ever Horse Management Organizer for the New York/Upper
Connecticut Region of the USPC.
We recognized that the way Horse Management Judges in that organization were
being selected and trained was not working well at that time, and we took a stab at
solving the problem. This article was the result. It, too, is quite
dated, but occasionally someone asks for it, so here it is.
We also probably ought to put up the slides for
our presentation at the United States Pony Clubs' annual meeting about
Mounted Games and its place in teaching riding and horsemanship.
Remind us and we'll do it.
Please note that none of these documents is an official
publication of the United States Pony Clubs, Inc., nor have they been approved
or recommended by that fine organization.
Mounted Games is a sport that is practiced by Pony Club and
also by independent organizations devoted to that sport alone, most importantly
in the United States by Mounted Games Across America, Inc, also known as MGAA. The sport
is a favorite of ours, and we have a page dedicated to
Mounted Games on this website.
Also at this website we provide
links to equestrian sites
and facilities in the Northwest Corner of Connecticut.
For decades we've been involved in the programs of
the Lakeville Pony Club, based in Salisbury, CT, and serving the entire
Northwest Corner, as well as neighboring Massachusetts and New York
State. Their
website
is worth a visit, as is their Facebook page.
