Mounted Games at Between the Lakes Group
We got started in Mounted Games during our 20 year affiliation
as active volunteers in Pony Club. In
that organization our Games involvement included horse management judging in
Mounted Games at National Championships for four consecutive years in the late
1990s, serving a three year term on the national Mounted Games committee (where
we played a significant part in upgrading the USPC Mounted Games rulebook),
organizing and conducting Games clinics, and presenting to the USPC Annual
Meeting about how to start a mounted games program in an individual Pony Club.
Our interest in Mounted Games then assumed a life of its own.
We're currently in the final months of a two year term as Vice
President of a wonderful not-for-profit organization
called Mounted Games Across America, Inc.
You may want
to visit their website.
You can also
download the slides from our presentation about how to start a Mounted Games
program in a local Pony Club (oriented toward USPC, but potentially of use to
other riding organizations and lesson programs). (The format will be as a
PDF file, to avoid problems with incompatible versions of PowerPoint®
There are several Mounted Games websites on the internet, and this one may be
a little different from the rest. Here's why: (1) we don't ride
anymore (2) we don't have any kids -- or other close relatives -- who ride
anymore (3) we just love mounted games, and want to make them more
accessible to everyone.
You should definitely visit the
United States Pony Clubs, Inc. This is a wonderful
organization for young people who love horses and ponies. While you're
there, be sure to visit their whole sub-section about Mounted Games!!
If you're interested in Mounted Games, we
want you to join the mountedgames@yahoo.com e-group
(we also moderate that group). To join the group (it's free!) all you
have to do is send an e-mail to:
mountedgames-subscribe@yahoogroups.com
We refer to mounted games as "life in
the fast lane" and hope to see you there!!
